VALLE DE ANTON

Less than an hour and a half from the
Panamanian Capital, in the Cloe’s region, you can find the
“Valle de Anton”, a small village nestle in the crater of an
inactive volcano. The valley is known as the place of the
“eternal spring”, and is a great destination for a day trips or
a weekend getaway, thanks to its cool and spring like climate
all the year long.
For the lovers of eco-touristic activities the Valley offers
horse back riding, bike rides and for the more adventurous,
canopy rides in the forest and jungles.
The valley offers many touristic attractions, we should not
forget to mention its Public market that happens every weekend
in the village, where visitors can purchase the handcrafts that
the natives bring from their village situated around the
mountains. A visit to “La Pintada” neighbourhood, just outside
the village, is where you will find “Petroglifos” –
pre-Colombian drawings that to this date cannot be decoded. A
promenade to “Chorro El Macho” a waterfall of 85m of high with a
wonderful kind of natural pool in the bottom is a fascinating
view, is another alternative.
Two kinds of “curious” species, that will surprise you “Las
Ranas Doradas” and the famous “Arboles Cuadrados” or square
tress, can be found there as well as many other variety of
tropical natives birds. All these species can be found at the
local Zoo “Hacienda El Nispero”.
As a perfect final ending relax in one of the many volcanic
thermal SPA´s and treat yourself to a medicinal mud bath, that
remind us of the volcanic activity in the area even thou the
volcano has been inactive for thousand of years.
